Pascal, I’m not sure this kind of tribablism is really helpful. Going beserk whenever the domain name open-slx.de shows up somewhere is doing the community (and many who contribute a lot from this side) a great disservice, it’s simply discouraging from contributing and caring about the very issue you seem to be after. Not helpful. Is it really that the only thing you can come up with when some contributors show activity for the community that the first thing is to complain about technicalities, infrastructure and branding? What you’re doing here is building up artificial barriers, not keeping the community together.

OWN is an initiative by and for openSUSE community members. I’m not sure if that suffices for “being an initiative of the openSUSE project”, though. And frankly, I don’t think we should care much.

Why is it on open-slx.de and not on opensuse.org ? For technical reasons ?

How are the German speaking OWN different from the English or other versions ? (I mean: why are the German OWN on open-slx.de and the other ones on opensuse.org ?)

Is OWN still an initiative of the openSUSE project and community ?

Thanks for asking In normal cases it is enough for the potential new User to add the Repository “http://download.opensuse.org/openSUSE:/Factory:/Contrib/openSUSE_11.3″ (in case for 11.3) into YaST and just install it via YaST. If you would like, then you can provide this Information.

Es ging mir nicht um Trac von dem ich weiß, dass es Open Source ist. Ich meinte die zugrunde liegende Portal-Software http://community.open-slx.de/inyoka/ die in der Kritik steht, da sie zwar Open Source ausnutzt, aber selbst Closed Source bleibt.

Zu 1. Die open-slx Plattform richtet sich ausschliesslich auf deutschsprachige Endanwender, d.h. wir können die Dokumentation hier genauer auf bestimmte Bedürfnisse abstimmen
2. trac ist open source (BSD Lizenz) (non-disclosure Agreements haben ansonsten auch so gut wie nichts mit Softwarelizenzen zu tun)
