I’m pleased to announce the new Version 0.7.3 of bleachbit for openSUSE. The new Package can found in the openSUSE:Factory:Contrib Repository.

What bleachbit does? The Projectsite tells us: BleachBit frees disk space and maintains privacy. Cleans cache, Internet history, temporary files, cookies, and broken shortcuts. Cleans Bash, Firefox, Flash, Google Earth, Internet Explorer, Java, KDE, OpenOffice.org, Opera, RealPlayer, Safari, and more.

Whats happend since the last Version?
– The following changes have been made since 0.7.2:
* Cleans Mozilla Thunderbird versions 2 and 3.
* Specific to Linux
o Clean Screenlets (thanks to MixCool).

In the original Changelog was a lot more Changes, but these was just for Windows. So have a lot of Fun with the new bleachbit!

Converting an *.deb Package to *.rpm

Today i tried to build an Package called „XMind„. But the Sourcecode was very strange. The Projectpage has just *.exe and *.deb Files. So i tried an piece Software called „Alien“. The Program description says, that the Program converts to RPM, DEB, TARGZ and other Formats.

The usage of the Program is „alien [–to-deb] [–to-rpm] [–to-tgz] [–to-slp] [options] file […]„. So in my case i tried alien –to-rpm xmind.deb.

But alien propose that we use the Function –scripts, so the Scripts converted too. And my usage was „alien –to-rpm -scripts xmind.deb

An other interesting feature is the automatic use of Packages: „–patch=patch„. If the Patch is placed into /var/lib/alien the Program uses this Patch to build the Package.

So i think, that i’m using this Program (alien) in some cases in future. Good piece of Software.

Winds of change & SDB

Since a lot of month the whole openSUSE Team is working on different things inside the Project. I’m very happy to spend time for the Project. The Boosters Team tried to make the Webpresence easyer. So they would like to give more Information in shorter Time. Since i’m working for open-slx as Community and Support Agent, i work with Rupert Horstkoetter on an special Range. In the last Meeting we spoken about our new Wiki QA, Templates and an new Wiki instance.

The Plan is, that we starting an new instance of wiki, and to there we importing the old wiki. We must proofread every time every Page, then we give this Page an new clothes (Templates). And then we importing this to an new Instance.

Some Content is to be deleted, because its old and unuseful.

After the Cleanup the Second Instance of Wiki this should be our nomber one. But inside if the Wiki we using an Sandbox. That means, if anyone mades lesser Changes, it is goog, and it would be saved. But if anyone changes more in an Article, this Article is to be reviewed by the Wiki Team. So we hoping, that we having an good Content.

Good News at last

From the beginning of SuSE it was anythig published called „Support Daten Bank (SDB)“. This File contents useful Information about supported Problems. Jens Koeke, Nicolaus Millin and myself working on updating and creating for new Articles. So you can reach the SDB vis: http://en.opensuse.org/SDB:History and http://de.opensuse.org/SDB:History.

Have Joy with it 🙂

Updated Package for openSUSE: python-icalendar 2.1

I’m pleased to announce my updated Package python-icalendar for openSUSE. It is available in openSUSE:Factory:Contrib.

Whats happend since the last Version? Changes.txt tells us:

2.1 (2009-12-14)
================

* Fix deprecation warnings about `object.__init__` taking no parameters.

* Set the VALUE parameter correctly for date values.

* Long binary data would be base64 encoded with newlines, which made the iCalendar files incorrect. (This still needs testing).

* Correctly handle content lines which include newlines.

iCalendar 2.0.1 (2008-07-11)
============================

* EXDATE and RDATE now returns a vDDDLists object, which contains a list of vDDDTypes objects. This is do that EXDATE and RDATE can contain lists of dates, as per RFC.

***Note!***: This change is incompatible with earlier behavior, so if you handle EXDATE and RDATE you will need to update your code.

* When createing a vDuration of -5 hours (which in itself is nonsensical), the ical output of that was -P1DT19H, which is correct, but ugly. Now it’s ‚-PT5H‘, which is prettier.

* Made the tests run under Python 2.5+

* Renamed the UTC class to Utc, so it would not clash with the UTC object, since that rendered the UTC object unpicklable.
