OOo4kids: Special Version for Kids

Today i found in interesting Project called „OpenOffice for Kids“. I have reviewed it and maked some Snapshots. First of all you must get your tar.gz File from: http://download.ooo4kids.org/ At the Moment existing the following Languages: English, Frensh, German, Portugues and Espagnol.

After downloading you just type: tar xvfz <Name of your tar.gz File>. Then you go into the created Folder. Then just type: ./ooo4kids0.5/program/soffice.

Bow you see the Splashscreen:

ooo4kids

After that you come to the Choosingbox:

ooo5kids1

Now you see OO Writer for Kids:

Then the Paint Part.

The Presentation Wizard:

In my view i think, that this is an useful Applications for the Kids. I’m very interested in the upcoming Versions. If you would like to try it out, check the Page: http://download.ooo4kids.org/

Maybe we can integrate that into our openSUSE Distribution.

I hope you like ooo4kids 🙂

How is this related to KDE or Qt?

Yeah, I really think there are a lot of children out their who need to recommend strategies 😀

  8. IMHO tweaking KOffice to be kid-friendly is both easier and more desirable from the KDE POV.

While I’m at it, it seems that KOffice will overtake OOo in support for both ODF and MS Office binary format support in the foreseeable future. It’s gained the upper hand on lesser resource consumption and interface tweakability already.

Too bad that the Sonnet maintainer has gone missing, the advanced feature(s) like figuring out the right language (for spell checking) after as little as three characters sounded stunning! It’s a real pity that didn’t reach KDE4 :\
